To Our Obstetrical Patients

We perform the ultrasound examination in two parts. The first phase is a technical exam performed by the sonographer. It is a detailed medical examination of the fetus which includes measurement of body parts and anatomical delineation. It requires a great deal of concentration and skill on the part of the sonographer in order to do a high quality examination. We feel it is best to do this phase of the exam with the sonographer and patient alone.

Once that phase is completed, and one of the doctors has reviewed the films and measurements, the second part of the exam takes place. The mother-to-be, father-to-be, and any "important others" are invited into the ultrasound room. The fetus will be viewed, the anatomy explained, and any questions that can be answered will be answered. This is an emotional, bonding experience for the family, and we would like to provide you the opportunity to partake in it if you so desire.

We feel this two-phased procedure will provide you with the best possible quality medical examination, and will also allow the family to participate in the wonderful emotional experience that it should be.

Thank you for your cooperation.
